Excuses Make You Fat

Sorry, I'm not sorry.

I've been down this road a lot lately, and this is never something I'd say to someone just starting their weight-loss journey. But sometimes the message needs to be heard by those who keep making the same mistakes with no real plan forward.

Your excuses are making you fat and overall weaker. The further you distance yourself from accountability, the weaker you become.

Take an older gentleman(purely hypothetical), for example; he wants to lose weight. He's working hard in the gym, but when he goes home, he's indulging in high-fat and high-carbohydrate foods, maybe not the best choice in large quantities. He’s taking shots to the dome nightly. He's completely forsaken the other healthy habits we're building in the gym.

As a coach, I'm obligated to tell you that's probably not the best approach to achieving your goals or living a healthy life.

But person to person, we all have our vices and self-destructive behavior, and so I get it. ✌️

Here's the kicker, though. You can respond verbally however you'd like; that doesn't matter much to me.

The question is how you mentally and physically respond. Will you stop the detrimental behavior to reach your goal, or will you stop your goal to continue your detrimental behaviors?

Sometimes tough decisions have to be made, and you have to make them. Yourself. I can't make excuses for my inaction, and neither can you.

Your excuses are making you fat and hurting you. If you don't see that, you'll have a hard time seeing the helping hand extended towards you, trying to pull you out of the situation!

Life is hard, but be harder! Be better! If you struggle to stop making excuses, here are some things you can try:

1. Hire a coach or find an accountability partner.

2. Keep a journal to track your successes and failures and set up a reward system. For when you succeed.

3. Reflect on what you're doing and why. Figure out if it's worth it. Write it down. Remind yourself of this daily.

4. Try 7 days of no negativity and no complaints. Think positively and only look for solutions. Whenever you think of an excuse, start over." See how long you can lost and examine what makes you fail and tick.
